Head over to Anna's page and show your support and encouragement. It's so important for these kids to know how special they are and for them to know of and see all the support that they have from so many people out there.

Heavenly Cream Puffs

I don't know about you but around these parts, we love ourselves some dessert!
Although we do have many favorites I think cream puffs definitely are on the top 3 list.
Of course we can not indulge in desserts as often as we'd like but when we do, we go all out.
After receiving this amazing and easy cream puff recipe from a friend I thought it just wouldn't be right for me to keep it all to myself and not share it with all of you.
So here you have it, heavenly cream puffs, from this kitchen to yours!

What You Need For The Cream:
1 cup Sugar
3/4 cup all purpose flour
3/4 tsp. sea salt
3 cups milk
3 egg yolks
2 tbs butter
2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 cup heavy cream

What You Do:
In a sauce pan combine the sugar, flour and salt while whisking.

Slowly add milk being sure to mix all together well.
In another bowl whisk your egg yolks and add to the mixture that is in the sauce pan, combine all well.
Bring all the ingredients in your sauce pan to a boil over medium high heat. Be sure to continuously stir until you get a pudding like consistency.
Remove your sauce pan from the heat once you form your pudding like mixture and add butter and vanilla until the butter is melted.
Once the butter has melted make sure your mixture is cooled completely. Wahla! this is your custard! To make it that light creamy texture just take a 1/2 cup of heavy cream and whip it...whip it good to form  peaks folding the heavy cream into the custard that you created.
Place your cream in a plastic ziplock bag, Cut one of the corners off the bag and you are all set for filling up your cream puff.
What You Need For The Puff:

1/2 cup of butter
1 Cup of water
1/4 tsp. sea salt
1 cup flour
4 Eggs

What You Do:
Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees. In a sauce pan combine butter, salt and water and bring it all to a boil.

Add the flour to the sauce pan and get a ball to form.
Take your sauce pan off the heat and let your mixture cool off for about 5 minutes.
After cooling start beating in one egg at a time (be sure to mix well after each added egg)
After your 4th egg you should have a smooth looking mixture
On a parchment covered baking sheet place your mixture by the spoonful.
Bake that yumminess for 40 minutes at 400 degrees.
After 40 minutes remove your puffs from the oven and let those babies cool.
Cut each puff in half and add the homemade cream you made that you placed in the ziplock bag. Toss some powdered sugar on those bad boys and you got yourself an irresistible dessert that everyone will enjoy!
Are you a cream puff fan?
Did you know that they were this easy to make?!

Hair- Save vs Splurge

If you couldn't tell from our makeup save vs splurge post, we are huge fans of beauty dupes. Although there are some things that we love to splurge on, we also love saving money on products that get us lookin good for way less than some of those designer products out there.
Today we are talking all about hair and giving you a splurge option vs a money saving option that is just as good, if not better than the other.
Just click the links below the images to see where you can get the items shown.
Make your choice and shop away!

Break Out Of Your Shy Shell

When we first posted our How To Get What You Want From Your Career article we received a few comments in regards to people being shy, networking, and confidence. So today we are bringing you some tips and tricks on how to boost your confidence and break out of your shell!

Our first shell breaking tip is to build your confidence and know your strengths.
Everyone has a strength and below you can see some examples of this broken down to get you thinking and build your strength list.

Download, share and print this card by heading here.

Knowing your strong points will help you promote them as well as yourself.

Next it's time to stop doing certain things that we sometimes do unintentionally.

1. Stop doubting yourself -Doubt is the number one dream killer. Never doubt yourself and your potential.
2. Stop your fear of failure- The only failure is never trying at all. Try your hardest, learn from your mistakes, and continue building yourself from there.
3. Stop negative thinking- Negativity brings you down. Think positive, be positive in your thoughts of you and the future, and surround yourself with positive thinkers too!
4. Stop destructive relationships- Destructive relationships make a mess not only of your life in general but also puts a huge halt to your success. Make sure your relationships are strong, positive, and beneficial for all involved. The people in your life should help lift you up and build confidence, not bring you down.
5. Stop criticizing yourself an others- This is negativity again, and who wants negativity in their life?
6. Stop gossiping- I never understood gossiping, it always comes back around and bites you right in the ass anyways. Break the cycle, stop the gossip!
7. Stop being fearful- If someone else can achieve their goals there is no reason you can't. "Fake it till you make it" comes into play here. People are fearful all the time but some of the most successes people people have achieved come from them pushing themselves past being fearful and just doing it.
8. Stop feeling as though you need to please everyone- You need to be you and do what is right for you. Part of breaking out of your shell is about not caring what others think of the true, real, you! You should never feel like you need to be a certain way just to please other. Be you, they will love you, and if they don't...their loss!

How do you break out of your shy shell?

DIY Valentine's Day Dessert!

Valentine's Day is this weekend...yes you  read correctly, this weekend! As we were playing around with some recipes this past weekend we came up with a fun and fairly simple Valentine's Day treat that is bound to knock the socks off of anyone who is lucky enough to have a piece. If...you decide you are even going to share a piece!

Red Velvet Heart Cake:

What You Need:
Note: the bellow is for one cake you are going to repeat the cake instructions 2xs because you will need 2 11x7x1.5 cakes.

1 Heart Cookie Cutter
2 11x7x1.5 baking pans
1 container of Pillsburry Valentine's Funfetti Frosting-Vanilla

2 sticks of room temperture butter
1 1/2 cup sugar
2 ounces red food coloring
3 tablespoons cocoa powder
Pinch of salt
2 eggs
1 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
Butter for your baking pan

What You Do:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
In a mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, cream butter and sugar, until light and fluffy.
In a small bowl, make a paste like consistency with your red food coloring, cocoa and salt.
Mix in paste by hand to your cream, butter, and sugar mixture.
In a measuring cup, stir eggs and buttermilk together and then add the eggs and buttermilk mixture to your red batter.
Next add vinegar and vanilla, then add flour and baking soda.
Mix until well combined but not over mixed.
Butter your baking pan very well.
Lay parchment on top and then butter the parchment.
Pour your batter into your baking pan and smooth the top to even the batter out.
Bake that yummy cake until a toothpick comes out clean for about 30 minutes.
Remove your cake from oven and let your cake cool completely!
Once cooled flip your cakes over onto two separate trays.

Assembling:
Cake #1 will be your base. You are going to want to cover the top of cake 1 in a thin layer of frosting.
Cake #2 will be the top layer. Use your heart cookie cutter and press it into the cake in any pattern you desire.
Carefully remove the cookie cut parts and put to the side.
Next carefully place the cookie cut cake on top of cake #1 flat part up.
Grab a spatula and spread frosting all around the surrounding edge of the cakes so that they look like one and add your sprinkles onto the top of your layered cake.
And there you have it! A sweet and delicious Valentine's Day treat to share, or keep all to yourself!
Enjoy!

Are you planning on baking anything fun this Valentine's Day?

What No One Ever Told You About Working In The Fashion Industry

As some of you may or may not know, ever since I got out of college I have worked in design for a global fashion company that we like to call RL (if that's not a big hint for you, I don't know what is).
I learned a lot working in the fashion industry not only in fashion itself, but also lessons that I will carry with me throughout life.
Right before our Pink Pony Walk

As with any career you take the good with the bad and if it is a career that you are super passionate about, the good usually out weighs the bad.
Today we are talking lessons, lessons I have learned with my career in fashion and what no one has ever told you about working in the fashion industry.

1. Being skilled in multiple areas is a must- It's not only about picking out what colors you like best or what patterns work with a certain look. You need to know about the business end, how consumers look at your work, what they expect, and what they want and need. You need to know how a garment is made and know if your ideas will work in a technical sense. It's like what people call in the entertainment industry a "triple threat." These days the most successful people are the ones who "know everything" so being proficient in what you do is a must.

2. It's not as glamorous as you may think- The fashion industry is a business that needs a ridiculous amount of focus and drive. Just like any business that will succeed you are going to put in long hours and reach points where you may want to pull your hair out and you are running around like a crazy lady...just ask anyone in the industry.

3. It's not a place for people who can't take criticism - You must be able to take criticism. You will get it at work and you will certainly get it from the public. If your company is in the public eye and a world wide brand there is no doubt the public is going to have things to say about it. Whether its good or bad you just need to be able to pick yourself up and take what is said and learn from that for the future.

4. The hard work and long days result in an amazing end result- Yeah the days are long, crazy, and hectic, but when you put your best into your work the end result is usually the best too and its pretty darn cool to see the product of your work and have the world see it too.

5. Being a problem solver is key- There is no time to focus on the problem....the problem was suppose to be handled "yesterday!" Rather than focusing on the problem you must focus on the solution. You must be able to think on your toes and come up with a fast and effective solution to any problem in no time flat. Being a problem solver is key and anyone in the industry will tell you that.

6. You HAVE TO be a team player- A successful fashion company is created and maintained by having a number of employees working together for a common goal. You must all be aware of the goal at hand and figure out together how you are going to achieve that goal. If you can't play nice together and communicate putting any differences that you may have with someone aside, be prepared for a lot of unneeded and unwanted headache and stress...and there is no time for that if you want to be successful.

Any other questions you have about the industry let me know and I will be happy to answer them.

P.S. Don't forget to enter our contest on yesterday's post for a free gift!
