Friday Favorites! Music Fest Edition!

Happy Friday everyone!
Since we recently attended the Vans Warped Tour we thought it would be fitting to do our Friday Favorites music festival edition!
We are bringing you our favorite styles and products that are a must when going to concerts and music festivals.
We want you to have the best time ever so we even added in a list of essential items to bring!
We hope you find these tips useful and let us know if you plan on going to any concerts or festivals anytime soon and if you use any of our style tips and/or items on the checklist!

Favorite Outfit #1:
A super easy go-to outfit that works with any type of concert or festival is high wasted shorts paired with a crop top!
It's super cute and stylish and will keep you nice and cool in the hot summer sun. You can add a flannel to tie around your waste and some long necklaces and sunglasses to give your outfit more flair!

Favorite outfit #2:
If you wanted to dress it up a bit, we suggest a short, light, and flowing dress.
We love this cold shoulder dress in the picture!
You can pair it with a black wide brimmed hat and a couple pieces of jewelry to make it even more stylish.
I would rock a pair of black booties or some strappy sandals to top it off.

Favorite Bag:

Now, you are going to need a bag big enough to hold all your festival necessities, something that will stay on you and will not be easily lost, and a bag that will match your cute outfit of course!
This over the shoulder, black fringe bag is perfect for all of that!

What To Keep In Your Bag:

There are a lot of things you will need to pack to be prepared for your music festival experience.
Here is what we think are your essentials:
Tickets (obviously!)
Wet wipes
Hair bands
Hand sanitizer
Band aids
Bug spray
Phone charger
And most importantly, WATER. Lots and lots of water.

What is on your must have lit?

Vans Warped Tour 2015 Scranton, PA

On Tuesday, July 21st, Cupcakes & Crossbones had the awesome opportunity to attend The Vans Warped Tour in Scranton, PA to do live media coverage!
What an amazing time we had!

Despite the heavy traffic, blistering heat, the sudden downpour, and a crazy hike back to our car, we managed to make the best out of our day and gather up some fun stuff to share with you guys!

Upon arriving at warped tour, we received our press publicity and photo passes.
These passes allowed us access to the press trailer where we could talk and hang out with some of the bands, as well as gain access to the front stages to take pictures of each set.

The first set we watched was of an up and coming band called Trophy Wives, and boy do they know how to put on a show! They absolutely killed their set! So we suggest you do yourselves a favor and check them out!

After witnessing Trophy Wives rock the Ernie Ball stage, we made it all the way around and back to the stages by the entrance just in time to see Asking Alexandria hit the Shark Stage.
I think it's safe to say that we were blown away by their performance.
They performed with such vitality and the crowd was just soaking up every second of it.
If you ever have the opportunity to check them out live, it's a must!

Next up on the Shark stage was Simple Plan.
They got everyone up on their feet jumping, dancing, and singing right along.
When they played a couple of their older songs you could hear the nostalgia as everyone sang along. After all these years, I think it is safe to say that Simple Plan still has everything that their old fans and new fans are craving!
After Simple Plan's performance, the rain started to come down, hard.
Just in time to see a personal favorite of mine, Pierce The Veil, kill it on the Unicorn stage.
They put on a great show and the amount of energy that emerged not only from the band, but the crowd too had our adrenaline pumpin'!
PS Thanks to the people who let us hang out under their merch tents until the rain calmed down, especially Trip, you're awesome!

Next up, August Burns Red and Never Shout Never took to the Shark stage.
Two totally different music styles yet both put on such a great show that made the crowds scream for more.
The end of the day is quickly approaching which meant my absolute favorite band, The Wonder Years, was about to take on the Shark stage to end the day.

The excitement was building as we waited up against the stage for the band to come on.
When they all ran on stage, the crowd went wild and the screams filled the mountains as lead singer, Dan Campbell, started singing their opening song "Dismantling Summer."
I could barely contain myself being so close to my favorite band, but I managed to grab some awesome pictures while singing and dancing my heart out.
Needless to say, they ended the show with a bang and I think everyone was extremely satisfied with their performance.

As the crowds started to file out, and the once packed venue became an empty space filled with garbage and the lingering feelings of excitement.
We made our way to the press trailer only to find ourselves in the middle of the post show barbecue with all the bands.
We hung out for a little bit, scoping out all of our favorite people and going over the days past events, when we lost track of time and figured we'd head out.
What we didn't realize was we had to hike down the mountain in the pitch black.
After what seemed as though we had walked 10 miles down a lonely and desolate side road we finally found ourselves at the car, exhausted and cold from our damp and rained on clothes.
We packed into the car thinking that this was completely worth it because of the amazing day we just had, the incredible music we got to hear, and the people we were lucky enough to meet!
Be sure to head over to our Instagram page to check out more photos of the event

Friday Favorites - Summer Edition

The weather has been nice and warm, perfect for hitting the beach or just relaxing by the pool.

What better way to kick of this weekend with a Friday Favorite Summer Edition so that no matter what your plans are for the weekend you know that you will be #RockinTheSweetLife!

Favorite Hair Style:
The hair style of the summer are these gorgeous and absolutely adorable beachy waves!
So many celebrities have been rockin this simple yet stunning do and you can too!
It's so easy and works with every look. You can find tutorials to get this style all over the Internet.

Favorite Product:
To get gorgeous, sun-kissed skin I suggest you use Hawaiian Tropic Tanning lotion sunscreen.
It's my favorite and the only tanning lotion I will use!
My skin looks great, gives me great color, and still protects me from harmful rays!
It's infused with skin-nourishing antioxidants and exotic island botanicals. Plus, it smells great!

Favorite summer remedies:
Something I have been using lately that I swear can solve any and all problems are essential oils.
For this Friday favorites I found a list of little summer issues that all can be resolved by using essential oils!
Things such as bug bites, sunburn, allergies, and headaches all can be fixed naturally with this non toxic alternative to healing.

Favorite drink to keep hydrated:
As you hit the beach, or go for a run, or even just laying out by the pool, it's very important you keep hydrated.
A drink that you can bottle up and take with you wherever you go that will keep you cool and hydrated is lemon ginger water.
Not only will this keep you hydrated, but there are so many health benefits too! It's good for your skin, great to assist weight loss, and so much more.

Favorite snack:
My favorite summer snack would have to be Matt's Munchies!
They are these delicious fruit snacks that are organic and low in calories!
They come in so many different flavors, I would recommend the island mango.
You can pack these up and enjoy them for a little snack on the beach!

What are some of your favorites for this summer?!

5 Summer Beauty Tips You Need In Your Life

1. Stay moisturized.
You may need to low your roll when it comes to moisturizing but don't stop completely.Choose a moisturizer with SPF in it and keep your kin well hydrated. Hydrated skin mean no flaking, keeping wrinkle at bay, and with an SPF will keep your skin safe from harmful rays.

2. Buff away dead skin.
Exfoliating not only keeps pores clean and unclogged (resulting in less breakouts) it also keeps your self tanning on point and fresh looking when applied. Depending on how sensitive your skin is will make the difference in how often you should be exfoliating. Find an exfoliator that is gentle on your skin and don't forget to moisturize after!
3. Don’t shave or wax your bikini line right before being out and having fun in the sun.
Removing a layer of skin and hair is a bad idea if you are going to be out in the sun and playing in the salty/chlorinated water! Try doing this beauty routine a day or several hours before hitting the pool or beach.

4. Invest in an awesome clarifying shampoo.
The sun, the heat, the salt, the chlorine, it all does a number on your hair no matter what hair color you rock. After your day of outdoor fun, be sure to clarify your hair to reduce damage and color dulness and fading.

5. Stay hydrated!
This is so important! Be sure to drink plenty of water this summer. It can sometimes be easily forgotten as you are sipping cocktails poolside or indulging in a beer or two at a BBQ but you must always remember to drink your H2O. Dehydration is no fun and in extremely severe cases can leave you hospitalized. So drink up!

NYSEA Is The Place To Be

When most people think of New York, they think of tall buildings, big bad corporations, one dollar pizza, and very rude people.
Growing up in Long Beach, I always thought that was a very unfair generalization.
What these people don't see are the miles and miles of beautiful beaches, the most amazing bagels, and some of the best surfers and skaters on all of the east coast.
So, what would happen if we combined the energy and excitement of one of the largest cities in the world, New York City, with the chill and fun vibes of a small beach town like Long Beach?
Lucky for us, NYSea has done exactly that and has created an awesome experience for all of New York to enjoy.

NYSea is a week long surfing and skating competition that will take place on July 15th to the 19th in Long Beach, NY on National Blvd.
The whole week is filled with intense tournaments, a vendor village on top of the boardwalk, kids events and family nights, beach concerts, and they even put a half pipe on the beach for a skateboard jam session.
To end the week, they have their annual NYSea summer party with an indoor skate jam, live music, and so much more that is available for anyone 21 and over.

Amongst all the intense competitions and wild beach parties, the professional surfers take time to work with Surf for All, a charity designed to assist developmentally disabled teenagers into the ocean.
Throughout the week, the Surf for All programs hold different events for varying disabilities. The ocean has proven to be a source of spiritual healing and there is nothing more inspiring than watching these courageous teenagers surf waves into the shoreline.

If you couldn't already tell, this event is pretty amazing and I strongly recommend trying to make it out here for the week.
I myself have attended this event a couple years in a row and have had the greatest time and met some really cool people. If surfing or skating is something you're into, you can join in on the fun and register to compete here: http://www.nysurfweek.com
Or if you just want to chill out, watch the competition, and join the parties, then bring yourself and a beach chair and you're good to go!

So what do you say? Does this event sound like fun to you?
Will you be attending the NYSea surf and skate week this summer?
